Algae search lab

Before the algae lab I had no idea what a single drop of pond water could have in it. Honestly I was amazed and turned off to the idea of ever swimming in a lake again. In our observations we had a vast amount of algae which meant plenty of creatures to choose from in feeding our shrimp. My partner and I were able to identify a copepod, mosquito, midge larva, scud, and Daphnia in our water. When viewing them closely through the microscope they were all different sizes and shapes. Most did not get along with each other and a few even looked as if they were trying to eat one another. We took each of these plankton and fed them to our shrimp. Immediately after dumping them into the tank our shrimp began to reach for them . We are not sure how long it took to eat all of the different plankton but the next morning we couldn't find any moving organisms.
